This book sets out to give added information on those listed on Dunblane’s war memorial, and others from Dunblane not listed, who were killed in both World Wars. The book details the history of the memorial, and the effects of war on the community of Dunblane.

The memorial only lists by rank and name those who fell, and it was the objective of the book to find out the stories behind the names and to recognize the sacrifice of those who died in both conflicts. In most cases it was possible to add personal details of the individuals listed so that a fuller picture of the person concerned could be established. Outstanding acts of heroism and sacrifice by people from Dunblane have also been highlighted.

Also included are details of the horrific casualty figures incurred by Scotland and the contribution of the people of Dunblane in both wars, in particular cases of multiple losses within individual families.

Edward Campbell has created a lasting testimony to remember those from Dunblane who sacrificed so much during the First and Second World Wars.
